Is OTTASIA a streaming service?+
No. OTTASIA does not host or stream any video. It is a discovery layer that tells you which streaming service has a given title in your country. Clicking through takes you to the actual provider (Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar, Viu, iQIYI, and others).
How is OTTASIA different from JustWatch or IMDb?+
JustWatch and IMDb are global tools built primarily around Western content. OTTASIA is built Asia-first: K-dramas, anime, Bollywood, C-dramas, J-dramas, and Thai dramas are first-class citizens, not afterthoughts. We also support Asian streaming services that Western tools handle poorly (JioHotstar, Viu, iQIYI, WeTV, Bilibili) and curate browse pages and SEO lists specifically for Asian audiences.
Which countries does OTTASIA support?+
33 markets today, grouped by region. South Asia: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal. Southeast Asia: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Brunei. East Asia: China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan. Central Asia: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan. Levant: Lebanon, Jordan, Israel. Gulf: Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman. Middle East: Turkey. North Africa / MENA: Egypt. Iran, Iraq, the rest of Central Asia, and additional smaller markets are next as streaming data improves.
Where does the streaming availability data come from?+
From The Movie Database (TMDB), a free, community-maintained catalog used by many streaming apps and tools globally. TMDB tracks which streaming services carry which titles in which countries, updated daily. We layer Asia-specific UX, browse, and search on top.
How fresh is the data?+
Title metadata, posters, ratings, and provider availability all pull live from TMDB on every page load. No stale rankings, no blog posts that haven't been updated since 2022.
Why does a title show as available on a service that does not actually have it (or vice versa)?+
Streaming rights shift constantly, and the public data graph occasionally lags a few days behind the actual service. If you spot a clear error, email hello@ottasia.com and we will look at it. The clickthrough always goes to the streaming provider, so worst case you land on a search result rather than a missing page.
Do I need an account?+
No, the core discovery experience (search, browse, country availability, trailers) is free and requires no signup. You only need an account if you want to save a watchlist or get email alerts when a saved title becomes streamable.
How does sign-in work?+
We use a passwordless one-time code. Enter your email, we send you a 6-10 digit code, you paste it back. No passwords to remember and no third-party social login required.
What is the watchlist alert feature?+
On any saved title, toggle the bell icon. When that title becomes available on a streaming platform in your country (or moves to a new platform), we send you a one-time email so you do not miss it. You can also opt into a Sunday weekly digest of what is new across Asia.
Is OTTASIA free? How do you make money?+
OTTASIA is free to use, with no ads. Eventually we may earn small affiliate commissions from outbound clicks to streaming services or stores - that does not influence which providers are shown, since we list every available option. There are no plans to put up a paywall on core discovery.
Are you affiliated with Netflix, Prime Video, or any other streaming service?+
No. OTTASIA is independent. All trademarks belong to their respective owners and are shown for editorial discovery purposes.
Who built OTTASIA?+
OTTASIA is built by Anurag Tyagi, an entrepreneur and operator. It started as a personal frustration (opening five apps to find one K-drama) and grew into the discovery experience Asia actually deserves.
How do I report a bug or suggest a feature?+
Email hello@ottasia.com. We read every message.
