

Nick Canfield is an award winning documentary director whose films profile unique individuals, iconic artists, and unsung elements of culture. He developed an intimate observational style as a cinematographer and archivist for legendary filmmaker Albert Maysles. His latest film OH YEAH! premiered at the Tribeca Festival, was selected for DOC NYC Film Festival’s prestigious Short List, and was released by Rolling Stone Films. My Back Pages premiered at the Woodstock Film Festival, and is available on The Criterion Channel. His first film, the feature music documentary The Reverend, won the Audience Award at DOC NYC, was distributed theatrically by Factory 25, and is streaming on several platforms. Nick’s camera work can be seen in documentaries such as Iris (NYFF premiere, distributed by Magnolia Pictures), The Fifty Year Argument (HBO, directed by Martin Scorsese), Born to Fly (SxSW premiere), In Transit (Tribeca premiere), and Making a Murderer (Netflix). Nick serves on the board of the Maysles Documentary Center, and was named one of DOC NYC’s 40 Filmmakers Under 40.
