

NicolĂĄs Celis, founder of Pimienta Films, is a Mexican producer who has gained a reputation for working on original projects of high artistic content and powerful impact. His production company, Pimienta Films, was named one of the three best production houses in Mexico by the magazine, âVariety.â This year, NicolĂĄs appeared in the âHollywood Reporterâ as talent to watch. Among his early projects is the drama-horror feature film, âWe Are What We Are,â which competed for the CĂĄmera dâOr in the Cannes Film Festival and in more than 30 international festivals. Two shorts by Elisa Miller, âWatching It Rain,â (Palme dâOr winner for best direction) and âRoma,â also participated in the Cannes Film Festival. Among Nicolasâ recent projects is JonĂĄs CuarĂłnâs, âDesierto,â which won the FIPRESCI prize at the Toronto International Film Festival. In 2016, âSoy Nero,â the new film by Rafi Pitts, had its premiere in official competition at the Berlin International Film Festival alongside Tatiana Huezoâs, âTempestad,â which won a special mention for the Caligari prize. Additionally, the new feature film by Amat Escalante, âThe Untamedâ had its premiere at the Venice Biennial, winning the prize for best direction. Currently, NicolĂĄs is in post-production for the new Alfonso CuarĂłn film.
