Anna Andreevna, who has spent her entire life working as a schoolteacher, retires and buys a summer house in a small village. Her neighbor turns out to be Taisia, a former milkmaid. Despite the difference in their education and life experience, the two women become close friends — they discover they have much in common in their life stories. Just as strong a friendship develops between their grandchildren, Dima and Masha. They will have to support each other through many difficult moments.
